Honoring Those Who Answer the Call: National First Responders Day

When someone calls 911, they may be facing the hardest moment of their life. On the other end of that call is a network of people ready to help—dispatchers, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, and law enforcement officers.

On October 28, National First Responders Day, TECHS EMS honors these dedicated professionals and the families who stand behind them.

Serving Our Communities, Every Day

For our crews serving Jackson, Nemaha, Doniphan, and Osage counties, answering the call means caring for our neighbors. Every patient is someone’s loved one, and every response is an opportunity to bring skilled care, compassion, and reassurance when it matters most.

That commitment reaches beyond the scene of an emergency. It includes checking equipment before a shift, continuing education, preparing for the unexpected, and working alongside fellow responders to help our communities stay safe.

We are grateful for our TECHS EMS team and the dispatchers, fire departments, law enforcement agencies, and healthcare partners who work beside us. Caring for our communities takes all of us.

Recognizing the Weight They Carry

Behind every uniform is a person with a family, responsibilities, and a life outside the job. First responders miss holidays, family meals, and important milestones. They work through the night and carry the memories of difficult calls long after a shift ends.

Today, we also recognize the families who navigate unpredictable schedules, offer encouragement after hard days, and share in the sacrifices that come with serving others.

We honor the responders who have lost their lives in service and the loved ones and colleagues who carry their memory forward.

Supporting Those Who Care for Us

Appreciation matters throughout the year. Supporting first responders means making room for honest conversations, respecting their need for rest, and encouraging access to peer support and mental health resources.

It can also be as simple as checking on a colleague, listening without judgment, or reminding someone that asking for help is a sign of strength.

To Our First Responders: Thank You

Thank you for the calls you answer, the compassion you show, and the care you bring to people during uncertain moments. Your work makes a difference—to your patients, your teammates, and the communities you serve.

From all of us at TECHS EMS, thank you to every first responder and every family standing behind one.

We see your dedication. We appreciate your sacrifices. We are grateful for your service.
